'ANIMALS SHARE WITH US THE PRIVILEGE OF HAVING A SOUL' ~ Pythagoras

'THE GREATNESS OF A NATION AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED' ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I left the UK and came to live in this beautiful part of Greece with two cats in 2005. Never did I think that animal welfare/rescuing would take over all other planned activities. The plight of these helpless innocent souls is heartbreaking.

Lu - Bo

Lucy (dog) appeared in a field last year.  We don't know where she came from, or whether she has a home.  But one thing we do know and that is she is such a loving, gentle dog, who protects all the other GreekSTRAYS in the field.  She has been sterilized and many times it has been promised that she will go to a new home.  Each time, she is overlooked and the reason is that she is a big dog now.  For us, this is sad, but we love her dearly and hand on heart, if the day came for her to be re-homed, we would be happy, but very sad.  Boubolina (cat) on the other hand, turned up when we were catching strays for neutering purposes.  We only saw her a couple of times in a particular area, when we were feeding, as she wasn't a regular.  At the time, we didn't know how sick she was.  She was skin and bone and naturally could not be neutered.  She needed to go to a home to be looked after.  But like most cases for stray animals, there was no-one who was interested in taking her home to nurse.  We could not put here back in the field in the condition she was in, as she wouldn't have survived.  So we took her home for 2 weeks and nursed her.  She made a full recovery, which was great, because we were able to have her neutered.  After her neutering, we took her to the field where all the other cats were.  Lucy and her have become inseparable.  They love playing together and it is so nice to see her back to normal.
